2012 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award
Project: Apache ASL Trails
The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC), a national organization of affordable housing developers, owners, and agencies, selected Apache ASL Trails of Tempe, AZ as the 2012 Charles L. Edson Award winner in the Special Needs Housing Category. President Erich Schwenker of Cardinal Capital Management and Board Chairman Thomas Posedly of Arizona Deaf Senior Citizens Coalition traveled to Washington, DC on June 21 to receive the honor at the Awards Luncheon at the U.S. Capitol. Director Mike Trailor of the Arizona Department of Housing spoke movingly of the importance of this type of supportive housing, to combat the isolation of deafness. The residents of Apache ASL Trails are honored by this recognition of their home.

2012 Wisconsin Fair Housing Network Partnership Award

Partnership Fair Housing Award was presented to the Center for Veterans Issues, the Milwaukee Center for Independence, the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Chase Bank, the Social Development Commission and Cardinal Capital Management for their work to address a serious housing need among those who have served in the defense and security of our nation. 2013 USDA Valued Partner Award for Multi-Family Housing Preservation
Project: Shelter
USDA Valued Partner Award - Cardinal's sister company Astar Capital Management, Inc. performs financing, development and asset management services on behalf of Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation (WHPC) for 484 rural development housing units in 27 separate projects throughout Wisconsin. On June 18, 2013, at the National Homeownership Month ceremony, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development recognized WHPC's multi-family housing preservation efforts and accomplishments. Erich Schwenker, Director of Asset Management for WHPC received the USDA Valued Partner Award on its behalf.

2014 Brian Mickelsen Housing Hero Award

On September 12, 2014 at the 11th annual Arizona Housing Forum, the Forum presented Erich Schwenker with the 2014 Brian Mickelsen Housing Hero Award for the Innovative Supportive Housing Program in recognition of Cardinal Capital's Apache ASL Trails supportive housing project in Tempe, Arizona. This award recognizes creative programs and services that provide outstanding housing, related support and resources to individuals.

2014 Mayor's Disability Awards: Accessibility Awards

On April 28, 2014, the City of Tempe presented Erich Schwenker, President of Cardinal Capital Management, Inc. with the Mayor's Disability Awards: Accessibility Award. This award honors exceptional individuals with disabilities, employers of individuals with disabilities, and others who have shown dedication to the disability sector and a commitment to proving the quality of life for all Tempe's residents.

2014 Meritorious Service to Community Award

At the July 1, 2014 opening ceremony of the 52nd Biennial National Association of the Deaf (NAD) conference in Atlanta, Goergia, Erich Schwenker was honored (on behalf of Cardinal Capital) to receive the Meritorious Service to Community Award presented by NAD. This award recognizes Cardinal Capital's exemplary leadership in developing housing that provides equal access to the deaf and hard of hearing community.

On Thursday, May 17, 2018 Milwaukee Continuum of Care presented Cardinal Capital with a Distinguished Landlord Award at their Community Engagement and Outreach Fundraiser. The Distinguished Landlord Award acknowledges Cardinal Capital’s innovative approach to permanent supportive housing in Milwaukee and nationwide.
